Abstract:· The purpose of this paper was to determine the quantity of students with a high level of knowledge on physics as well as those with a high level of knowledge on mathematics in SMPSerah Matematika (SMPS).· A questionnaire was developed that covered four units in physics and one in mathematics, as well as questions for general knowledge and attitude on the physics and mathematics teacher.· One hundred and thirty nine respondents were selected through a convenience sampling approach. The general knowledge and the attitudes towards physics and mathematics were tested using questions developed by the authors.· The responses revealed that 25% of the respondents had a high level of knowledge on physics, 55.7% on mathematics, 28.8% on scientific theories and theories, and 48.3% on measurement systems.· The main reason for the low level of knowledge on physics and mathematics in the SMPS was mainly due to inadequate exposure.· Reliance on textbooks and teachers was another reason.· The major reason for the positive attitude towards physics was teachers who are good teachers of physics.· A poor attitude was found towards mathematics because of teachers who are not clear on the subject or do not have a good teaching attitude.· The lack of knowledge on physics was most prevalent among the physics students whereas the lack of knowledge on mathematics was least among mathematics students.· A survey was conducted to reveal the levels of knowledge, attitudes and factors associated with the levels of knowledge on physics and mathematics among Indonesian students of the SMPS. The survey covered two years of physics and one year of mathematics, as well as questions related to students’ attitudes towards physics and mathematics. The results revealed that 25.2% of the respondents had a high level of knowledge on physics, 33.9% on mathematics, 34.3% on scientific theories and theories, and 48.3% on measurement systems.
